King Soopers Update from Mr. Essigmann:

As we discussed at the last parents meeting, our Explorer post receives an enormous benefit from the Safeway and King Soopers Rewards Programs. I have just deposited $701.48 from them representing activity in 2019. In the past, we have dedicated these monies to help defray the costs of our Awards Banquet in November.

Remember that we receive these monies simply because you shop at their stores. It costs you nothing, but you will benefit in November because your ticket costs are lower. This is a win for you and a huge win for the post. If you have not yet signed up for the King Soopers Rewards program, an attachment in the last Monday e-mail from Ms. Shannon gave you the process. If you wish a Safeway card, just ask an Advisory Board member.

*** Supporter clothing - we have not placed the order for the supporter tshirts/hoodies. We must have a minimum of 12 items to be able to order. We are currently at 6. If you would like to order a supporter item please let me know. These have to be paid for in advance as well. I can resend you the order form. *****

**** All Explorers need to complete NIMS 100 & 700. These must be done prior to getting off probation. The links and information to obtain these certs are on our website. Please get with your mentor if you are having issues with getting these certifications.*****

All Explorers need to respond to what program is at Station 13! I need the response to this email before Wednesday nights meeting.

Thank you for the support of your Explorer and CSFD Explorer Post 1894!

Thanks, Shannon Jantzen CSFD Explorer Post 1894 Advisory Board

It's hard to believe that another year is coming to a close and with that we are also seeing the end of another decade as well! The years have passed by so amazingly fast!! This evening as we bid farewell to 2019, Captain Broch asked me to share with all of you the "Explorer Year End Wrap Up for 2019" that he sent out earlier to our staff and fire crews at the CSFD. We are very grateful to each of you for the time you spend and everything you all do to make the CSFD Fire Explorer program a success throughout the years! Happy New Year and best wishes for a prosperous 2020! Janelle L. Smith CSFD Fire Explorers smitty2462@aol.com 719-332-4030

We had a really great year in 2019! What a great group of Explorers this year. Many returning for this coming year. I would like to THANK all of Administration: Chief Collas, Chief Royal, and Chief Dubay for their continued support. The Battalion Chiefs and all of the fire department, Operations and Support have supported us throughout 2019. THANK YOU ALL!! Firefighters Patrick DiTullio and Tanner Finnicum are absolutely great to work with as a team of Instructors and Adult Fire Department Leaders. Thank You!! The volunteers are countless that helped the Fire Explorers in 2019. You should be very proud of the Fire Explorers as they represented our fire department well at numerous events and superbly shared Sparky with the community. Two events that I would like to highlight. The first in June one day during the Explorer Academy, all the Explorers assisted at Regency Apartments (after the high rise fire) moving people out on the last day the public could occupy the building. Teamwork and Comradery was gained during this experiential learning opportunity as the Explorers served. The second in August was Hazardous Materials training taught by retired FF Bob Dodd! There is so much more… We held our awards banquet 11/14/19. Thank you again to administration the three Chief’s mentioned above for attending! Father Brad opened up the evening and the following Explorers received awards: Matthew Troyer since 1/17 for Best Uniform and Explorer Scholarship $500.00 Aspen Parsons (current Post Leader) since 1/18 MDA award and FFM award for most hours Noah Anderson since 1/19 tied for MDA tied for most hours Cristof Mace since 1/19 best attendance and community service award for most hours Brendan Ziwak since 1/19 Explorer Scholarship $500.00 Kayla Nocon since 1/19 Explorer Scholarship $500.00 Josh Berghorst since 1/19 Best uniform and Explorer who stepped up the most Rookie of the Year was shared by Kayla Nocon 1/19 and Cristof Mace 1/19 (these two also had most ride alongs in 2019) Explorer of the Year 2019 was Josh Berghorst 1/19 We are very grateful for 2019, the Explorers, the support of you all and the help we had!! If you know of any youth wanting to be a Fire Explorer in 2020 the deadline in 1/11/20 to get involved have them reach out soon. (719)332-4030. We are looking forward to 2020 so if you want to get involved please reach out to me! The schedule is set and we are on track to have another banner year!! Call me, the phones lines are open… David W. Broch
